Road Trip #10 – Day 5

Cloudy day to start with and for a worrying moment, rain was forecast at one point, but in fact it became warm as the sun broke through at around 1400.

GPS was having issues as I started off as the screen kept reverting to a message stating that it would take a while to calculate a route. So after two restarts, I stopped the navigation mode as I was going to stick to just the N430, so did not need turn by turn advice. The two short legs will be recorded on the full map, but I am just posting the single map which has most of the day’s ride.

The first 30KM was undulating hills, I am not a big fan of starting off doing a hill first thing, but after a very short decent from the hotel, it was upwards and onwards.
This is the highest point of the ride. 996M, so again just short of 1KM!
A Spanish Castle.
This is a roundabout in La Solana, I was crossing from East to West. 12 Years ago during the  2013 London to Africa ride, I crossed this very point from North South. There is a very good reason I am not going South just yet. I know what lies just 20KM down the road. The N road changes to a motorway and the service road becomes many KM of gravel.
Destination was the Paradores Hotel. A real treat. I will here for two nights so tomorrow is a chill day!
I was given the key to the bike garage. Was amazed to see a bike stand and a good tool kit. I have a small job todo tomorrow to sort out some creaks!  Strange thing is that there is no pump!
Map of the route (missing first 6KM)
